LIFEGUARD TRAINING

Lifeguard training is an essential program that prepares individuals to be professional and responsible guardians of aquatic safety. Lifeguard training includes learning advanced rescue techniques, first aid, and professional CPR/AED skills to ensure that individuals are ready to respond to emergencies in and around the water. By undergoing lifeguard training, individuals can become certified to work at pools, beaches, and waterparks, and are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to prevent drowning and other water-related accidents.

The lifeguard training certification is provided through the American Red Cross.  This is a rigorous program that is completed over 2 - 4 days. Participants must be at least 15 years old by the completion of the course.  There is also a required prerequisite before entering the course.

All students must complete:

  • 300-yard swim (front crawl and breaststroke)

  • tread water for 2 minutes

  • timed diving brick retrieval

*This certification is valid for 2 years.
